G7 STATEMENT ON RUSSIA SANCTIONS

Leaders at the G7 summit in Germany have jointly stated that they “stand ready to take further restrictive measures in order to increase cost on Russia should its actions so require”, and that “the duration of sanctions should be clearly linked to Russia’s complete implementation of the Minsk agreements and respect for Ukraine’s sovereignty”.  This was also the position stated by President Obama, Chancellor Merkel, and Prime Minister Cameron at the beginning of the summit. President Putin was not invited to attend the summit.
