The department for Business Innovation & Skills’ Export Control Organisation (ECO) has published a notice to exporters reporting on export licensing performance.
The Export Control Organisation aims to process 70% of licence applications within 20 working days, but states that it is currently handling a very high volume of applications for Standard Individual Export Licences (SIELs) and it is taking 25 days to process the target 70%.
In the interim, the notice suggests that exporters make licence applications as early as possible and flag urgent shipping dates, where known, in their applications. The ECO regularly publishes export licensing performance data, helping exporters determine destinations for which it takes longer to obtain a licence. Exporters are also advised to check whether an Open General Licence will cover their activity.
