More UN sanctions on North Korea likely

The UN Security Council has said it will introduce new sanctions against North Korea, following the launch of a long-range rocket yesterday in violation of existing UN sanctions.  North Korea has said that the purpose of the launch was to put a satellite into orbit. US Ambassador Samantha Power said in the Security Council that the US would “ensure that the Security Council imposes serious consequences.  DPRK’s latest transgressions require us to be even firmer”.
