The EU has added Nayef Al-Hababi to its counter terrorism sanctions. He was listed by the UN at the end of March for being the Al-Qaida emir for the eastern zone of Afghanistan and having led an Al-Qaida battalion in Afghanistan since at least mid-2010. Al-Hababi was also designated by the US in February. See Implementing Regulation 2016/473 amending Regulation 881/2002. HM Treasury’s notice on the designation is here.
