Ukraine adds to its Russia sanctions list

Ukraine has added 259 people and 46 companies to its Russia sanctions list, and renewed sanctions against 388 people and 105 companies that were already listed.  These sanctions target people said to be involved in Russia’s annexation of the Crimea region of Ukraine or the ongoing crisis in Ukraine. Ukrainian First Vice Prime Minister Stepan Kubiv said on Wednesday that the additions were aimed at synchronising Ukraine’s regime with the EU’s own listings.

President Petro Poroshenko of Ukraine introduced this sanctions regime in September 2015.  Listed targets include the Speaker of the Russian Parliament Sergey Naryshkin, General Director of TASS news agency Sergei Mikhailov, and Gazprombank (see previous blog).
