EU and US prepare to ramp up sanctions on North Korea

The EU and US have said that they are prepared to ramp up their sanctions against North Korea again in the wake of its latest nuclear test on Sunday. European Council president Donald Tusk called on the UN Security Council to adopt new sanctions and “show stronger resolve to achieve a peaceful denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula”. US Treasury Secretary Mnuchin has said that a sanctions package is being drafted for the President to consider, which would sanction anyone trading or doing business with North Korea.
