OFAC sanctions 2 people & 1 entity linked to ‘Mexican drug cartels’

US Treasury Building.jpgOFAC has designated 2 individuals, Jesus Perez Alvear and Miguel Jose Leone Martinez, and 1 entity, Gallistica Diamante, as Specially Designated Narcotics Traffickers, pursuant to the US Kingpin Act, for “acting on behalf of Mexican drug cartels” (asset freezes imposed).

Mr. Alvear – a “Mexican music promoter” – was designated for using his music promotion business (Gallistica Diamante – designated in today’s action) to “launder money on behalf of the powerful Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generacion (CJNG) and the Los Cuinis Drug Trafficking Organization (Los Cuinis DTO)”.

Mr. Martinez – a “Venezuelan-Italian fashion photographer” – was designated for leading an “international prostitution ring associated with the Los Cuinis DTO”. Links to OFAC Notice and US Treasury press release.
